LMS Dia.1666 Open 5 Plank - No.M234421 - BR Grey

LMS Dia.1666 Open 5 Plank - No.M234421 - BR Grey

The LMS inherited some 305,000 good vehicles from its constituent companies. However, many of these needed replacing and the LMS embarked on a huge wagon building program. It looked to a Midland Railway design as its standard open wagon.

The first batch of 1,000 wagons was built by the LMS in 1923.

A staggering total of 54,450 wagons were built to this design -Ā designated Diagram 1666 by theĀ LMS – up to 1930. There wereĀ more Dia. 1666s built than theĀ total number of goods wagons onĀ the Southern Railway!

These wagons survived in largeĀ numbers well into the BR era with aĀ number finding their way into privateĀ works and industrial use. But for aĀ wagon that was built in such largeĀ numbers only a handful have survivedĀ into preservation including at theĀ Chasewater Railway andĀ Buckinghamshire Railway Centre.

Here’s the specification of our ā€˜OO’ gauge model:

  • Three different types of wheel
  • UK designed
  • NEM coupling pockets
  • Fine detailed plastic bodies/chassis with metal parts
  • Lots of fine, separately fitted details
    $13.28

    Original: $44.27
